Calendar 2007: Costume for Performance

Cover: Clothing and Textile Collections in the United StatesWelcome to Americas Closets - your key to clothing and textile collections in the United States. Americas Closets is a site for public institutions that preserve and present clothing, uniforms, accessories, costumes, textiles, quilts, and flags sponsored by Sally Queen and Associates. We are focused on projects that make these collections accessible.

Clothing and textile collections in the U.S. are found in art and history museums, colleges and universities, historic sites and historic houses. We have located 2,604 collections in 1,956 cities. The community of collections is featured in a new publication, Clothing and Textile Collections in the US: A CSA Guide. By defining the community of collections, as we know them in 2006, is the first key to greater accessibility.

If you are an institution with these specific objects in your general or specific collections, we want to know more. Are you listed in the guide?.

Individuals will want to know the location of collections for research trips, visiting exhibitions, donations, and special programs. Our locator map supports information found in the field guide.

Private collectors - we are interested in gathering your information, too, for future interactions. Tell us more about your collection.
